"Here We Are Again"

A poem

June 1st, 2026

So, here we are again, Lord:

Another year, another June, another weight to bear.

Here we are again:

Heavy hurts, fluttering feelings, and hopes that sometimes feel hopeless.

Here we are again.

We’ve come full circle, You and I,

And oh, how bittersweet and beautiful

Is a journey directed by You, Lord.

Here we are again.

My heart is uncertain.

My hopes might be unfulfilled.

My dreams are sometimes impossible,

Sometimes within my grasp.

I fall over my own clumsy feet,

I stumble into sticky situations,

I teeter on the edge of adulthood,

I trip into beauty and brokenness.

Yet no matter how many times I fall—

Whether into accidents or into good things—

You are faithful to pick me up.

You watch and smile,

And You clutch me close against Your strong heart

When my fragile pieces threaten to come apart.
